Being a Teen Parent
-What to expect

Being a parent changes a teen’s life forever. Many teens become parents. About 1 million teens get pregnant every year. Often the pregnancies are not planned.

Many teens are not ready for their new role. This may be because they are still growing themselves, not sure where to go for help, or overwhelmed by sudden changes in their lives. Parenting can be both a joy and a struggle—no matter how old you are.

The Worcester County Health Department offers a Nurturing Parenting class for Teen parents and their children or for expecting Teen parents.

There are many different issues that we explore and talk about including the special challenges teen parents will face along with regular parenting issues they will face.
