Keeping Children Drug Free
(From our Nurturing program)

Keeping children drug free is not an impossible task. Millions of children worldwide go drug free. So, what’s the secret? Well, by now you should know that there is no secret to raising healthy children. It is hard work but well worth it. Here is our 12-step program for keeping children drug free.

1. Demonstrate Caring. When you care about someone, you act on their behalf.

2. Show Interest. Ask your kids how their day was. Be a presence in your child’s school.

3. Parent without violence. Forget the good spankings and beatings and tongue lashings. How about some good old fashioned kindness and respect.

4. Talk about Drugs. Talk with your child, not to your child about drugs.

5. Model Appropriate Drinking. If your going to drink then model appropriate behavior.

6. No Drinking Means No Drinking. It’s never ok for children to drink.

7. No Illegal Drugs.

8. Don’t Compromise Your Values.

9. Just Say Yes to Health.

10. Communicate.

11. Know Your Kids’ Friends.

12. Have Fun As A Family. Do things together. Sports, parks, picnics, movies, hikes, dinner, family get-togethers, parties. You name it- then do it as a family. Without alcohol!
