About Us- Worcester Parents.org

This web site was established as a part of a social marketing campaign known as “Got Kids-Get Answers” which was launched in February 2004. This is a project of the Worcester County Parent Consortium and was created in order to coordinate, advocate, promote, and address needs related to parent services. The Parent Consortium began meeting in January 2003 and is made up of community based organizations and agencies that provide services to parents.

The web site is designed to connect parents to the information and resources that will help support them in their efforts to raise their children to be happy, healthy, caring, and responsible adults. Parent Resource Centers were established in Pocomoke, Snow Hill, and Berlin which provide information and resources. Parent education programs are promoted on the web site and provide parents a menu of options for choosing the program that best suits their needs. Anyone requesting parent education programs may call 443-735-KIDS. A Parent Resource guide is available which identifies the key providers of parent education services.

The Parent Consortium adopted the Search Institute’s Asset Approach as a framework to assure that all kids in Worcester County have an opportunity to grow and thrive. The Assets in Motion (A.I.M.) Committee was created in order to champion the asset building effort in Worcester County. The Asset Building Initiative was launched in May 2004 at the Worcester County Drug and Alcohol Council Awards Banquet.

Citizens, parents, and youth are encouraged to become involved in the Parent Consortium and the Assets in Motion Committees. You may contact the Worcester County Health Department’s Prevention Office at 410-632-0056 or e-mail Martyp@dhmh.state.md.us for more information.

The Worcester County Local Management Board provides the funding for this project which originated at the Governor’s Office of Children, Youth, and Families through a program entitled the Expanded Community Partnership.

We like to say that “All kids are our Kids!” Join us in making Worcester County the best place to grow, work, and play.
